Review on Bucket Restaurant
Seafood restaurant Bucket is a welcome addition to fashionable Westbourne Grove. It was launched in late May by former Gaucho employees, husband and wife Georgie Godik Hayward and Adam Hayward, with the interiors created by Patsy Godik. It has a relaxed beachside vibe, seating 78 diners with bar stools at the bar looking into the open kitchen, as well as comfortable cabana booths.
The menu designed for sharing focuses on sustainably sourced ultra-fresh seafood, and simplicity is the kitchen's hallmark. The menu showcases classic dishes alongside regularly changing seasonal specials. Their buckets are a popular choice which include calamari, whitebait and prawns cooked in a number of different styles, or mussels are offered with a choice of four sauces, white wine, garlic and parsley, lobster and brandy, coconut and chilli or pancetta, chorizo and tomato. Non-piscine alternatives include their boards of half chicken or sirloin of beef served with house sauce, courgettes and a choice of fries or baby gem salad. Round things off with chocolate fondant paired with vanilla ice cream or pineapple carpaccio with pink peppercorn, lemon thyme and coconut sorbet.
Wines have been carefully chosen to complement the dishes and there's a nice selection of signature cocktails. Guests can also pop in for a drink or quick bite if they haven't got time to enjoy a leisurely meal.
