Review on Sushi Atelier
Sushi Atelier is the second outing from the team behind the successful Japanese restaurant Chisou in Mayfair. The younger sibling is located a short walk from Oxford Circus underground on Great Portand Street in the heart of Fitzrovia, close to the BBC's Portland place building. Inside the long sushi bar with counter seating takes centre stage, where guests can watch all the action of the chefs at work. It has a minimalist design decked out with vivid Japanese murals on the walls, and a downstairs basement with banquettes ideal for private parties.
Skilled chefs prepare modern sushi with nigiri toppings like ponzu jelly and rolls filled with yellowtail and truffle mayonnaise. Alongside sushi there's seaweed and cucumber salad or carpaccios, like Octopus carpaccio served with kizami wasabi and azukibean jelly. When it comes to desserts enjoy a Green Tea cheesecake or maybe a soy milk panna cotta paired with black sesame sauce.
To accompany the dishes there's premium sake, wine, draft Japanese beer and tea as well as shochu.
