Review on Katagi Blau
Katagi Blau is located on the top floor of the designer five star Llaüt Palace hotel, just a short walk from the beach and 4km from Palma de Mallorca Airport. It's the first solo project from German born chef Gunnar Blischke, who previously honed his culinary skills at Restaurant Miyoka in Tokyo, two Michelin starred Reinstoff in Berlin and more recently as Head chef at the acclaimed Coast by East restaurant in Calviŕ, Mallorca.
A smartly decked out restaurant with a spectacular roof top setting, it has panoramic views overlooking the bay of Palma. The restaurant is divided into three different sections a lounge bar, three Teppanyaki live cooking stations and an after dinner late bar. The outdoor terrace overlooks a small pool surrounded by comfortable sofas and low tables.
Gunnar showcases a variety of menus with a focus on Asian cuisine using regionally authentic spices and fresh Mallorcan ingredients. Amongst the starters look for dishes such as caramelized duck and soft tacos, Mallorcan duck, pomelo, plum sauce and peanuts, followed by a main course of salmon fillet teriyaki style with pak choi, Sashimi, tomatoes datterino, almonds and cranberries.
