Review on Home Restaurant
Home Restaurant was unveiled in the summer of 2017, the brainchild of MasterChef 2016 semi-finalist Elizabeth Cottam and Mark Owens, the former head chef of the Michelin-starred Box Tree in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Located on the first floor amongst the busy shops on Kirkgate, Leeds oldest street, the former Indian restaurant has undergone a stylish refurbishment. A smart contemporary dining room with an open kitchen, it features teal blue and taupe panelled walls, with nicely spaced linen-clad tables on parquet flooring.
The emphasis is on re-invented British food, beautifully presented with serious local and regional input, and a feel for the seasons. Menus change monthly but some of the dishes you might see on the ten course tasting menu include Yorkshire lamb, celeriac and beetroot or lobster with lime, coconut, pickle and curried bisque. Other interesting ideas include fish pie with Halibut, bisque, smoked salmon mousse, pickled sea vegetables and potato crisps or from the land roasted breast of Yorkshire Mallard, spiced leg boudin, orange and cumin. When it comes to the line up for desserts there's white chocolate and pistachio parfait, white chocolate ganache and cherries or pumpkin, treacle and milk ice cream.
Diners also have the option to choose wine pairing with the dishes.
