Review on The Wigmore
The Wigmore bills itself as a modern British tavern, located on bustling Upper Regent Street, it's part of the luxury iconic hotel, The Langham. Set in a former banking hall, it has undergone a striking refurbishment by the well regarded Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Retaining many of the original features including the timber panelling, high ceiling and Art Deco facades, it has been enhanced by fabric clad walls, a contemporary central chandelier and green leather banquettes and sumptuous velvet chairs.
The kitchen sends out classic British pub fare with the food menu overseen by acclaimed chef Michel Roux Jr. Diners can expect accomplished seasonal dishes along the lines of buttered crumpets with steamed cock crab and Masala spiced scotch-egg accompanied by ‘dahl’ relish. When it comes to main courses there's beef and onion pie and mashed potatoes and for fish fans roast Cornish cod, coco beans and wild mushrooms. As for desserts think, cereal and chocolate crunch or maybe a raspberry and almond Bakewell tart.
The excellent drinks list has been created by the team behind Artesian featuring a well sourced slate of wines, cask ales and craft beers including their own house beer named Saison, brewed in partnership with Bermondsey’s “Brew by Numbers”.
