Review on Taller de Mar
Taller de Mar is set on the tree-lined street of Carrer de Cotoner in the vibrant area of Santa Catalina in Palma, best known for its market that sells fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. It has a smartly painted white exterior with floor to ceiling windows flooding the intimate restaurant with lots of natural light. Inside it has a contemporary décor in a palette of neutral tones with tables laid with crisp white linen and an open-to-view kitchen.
The restaurant is the domain of chef patron Riccardo di Loreto, who has honed his culinary skills alongside some of Germany's top chefs, as well as gathering valuable experience from his father who owns Anima Beach Club and Mar de Nudos. Riccardo sends out beautifully presented dishes that fuse Italian, Japanese and Mediterranean flavours. Although the name which roughly translates as sea workshop offers some first-class fish dishes, there's also enough options for those whose preference is meat.
There's a relaxed ambience to proceedings together with a well-priced wine list and tasty cocktails.
