Review on Astir Restaurant at Iberostar Grand Portals Nous
The Iberostar Grand Portals Nous is a five star luxury hotel with stylish architecture created by Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders, located between the village of Portals Nous and old Bendinat, it's a fifteen minute drive from the centre of Palma. The flagship restaurant is Astir found two floors below reception, a swish affair with vaulted ceilings and hydraulic tiles, with an outside terrace displaying the famous work of Marcel Wanders, "The Tree of Life" and overlooking the beach with beautiful views of the Mediterranean.
Leading the kitchen brigade is Iván Crespo who has plied his culinary trade in esteemed restaurants such as El Paso del Agua in Spain, Cringletie House in Scotland and Le Petit Restaurant in France. The kitchen fuses traditional and contemporary Mallorcan cuisine with a focus on some of the best steaks in the world, supplied by El Capricho from the Spanish mainland in the province of León. Fish arrives daily and appears in dishes like fresh turbot with Beluga lentils stew and black chanterelles.
To accompany the menus there's a comprehensive wine list of some 100 bins together with Cava served at two different temperatures.
