Review on The Ivy Marlow Garden
The latest incarnation of Caprice Holdings 'Garden' brand is set in the well-heeled town of Marlow in Buckinghamshire, and it follows the London openings of The Ivy Chelsea Garden and The Ivy City Garden. Like its siblings the stunning interiors have been created by the acclaimed Martin Brudnizki Design Studio including their signature garden, a lush flower-filled space artfully decorated with flower urns, vintage mirrors and a marble fireplace.
Executive Chef Sean Burbidge has created an extensive range of menus and eating opportunities that kicks off with breakfast and works its way through, lunch, afternoon tea and leisurely dinners. Menus change with the season and focus on quality ingredients with starters in the shape of roast pumpkin soup, creamed pumpkin with ricotta, pine nuts and crispy sage, followed by a main course of blackened cod fillet baked in a banana leaf with a soy and sesame marinade, citrus-pickled fennel, grilled broccoli, chilli and yuzu mayonnaise. If meat is your preference opt for one of their succulent steaks or maybe their signature slow-braised lamb shoulder with beef and Wookey Hole Cheddar potato mash. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to desserts, witness a cherry ice cream sundae with vanilla ice cream with meringue, pistachio, shortbread and a warm cherry sauce or a rum baba, Plantation rum soaked sponge with Chantilly cream and raspberries.
Backing up the food is a well-spread wine list and cocktails like Bisham’s Collins, Elderflower vodka, cucumber, apple, lime and cider sparkle.
