Review on Two Lights
Two Lights was launched in October 2018, the third venture from the team behind the critically acclaimed The Clove Club, UK's highest entry on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list and Italian restaurant Luca in Clerkenwell. Set on bustling Kingsland Road in Shoreditch, the interiors adopt a minimalist approach with simple furnishings and painted brick walls decorated with pictures.
In charge of the enterprise is former Clove Club Head Chef Chase Lovecky, and the restaurant takes its name from the national park in the US state of Maine where he was born. Showcasing modern American cuisine, dishes are designed for sharing in a relaxed environment with engaging waiting staff. Some of the options available include the much publicised sardine katsu sandwich or there's crab and elderflower on beef fat chips. Among the larger plates enjoy meat pleasing offerings like stuffed guinea fowl, broccoli and yuzu or grilled Hereford rump cap, smoked cheddar and leeks. As for dessert, check out the brown butter ice cream paired with hazelnut and pear or a custard tart with smoked caramel.
There's a concise wine list sourced from small producers around the globe, together with British craft beers and a small selection of house cocktails.
