Review on Adam Handling Chelsea
Adam Handling Chelsea is the showpiece restaurant set within the luxury Belmond Cadogan, built in 1887 from five adjoining townhouses, one of which was home to the royal courtesan and actress Lillie Langtry. Sister to the highly regarded Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire, the hotel has recently been relaunched after a four-year renovation costing £28m.
The restaurant is a fitting setting for chef Adam Handling, who already operates his respected Frog restaurants in Covent Garden and Hackney. The elegant décor has been created by the acclaimed Russell Sage Studio in a neutral colour scheme, with bespoke artwork by Katy Jade Dobson.
The kitchen's focus is squarely on high quality ingredients and seasonality with a strong commitment to sustainable practices. The a la carte menu works its way through some inviting modern dishes along the lines of butter-poached king crab, carrot and sorrel among the starters, before moving on to Highland Wagyu beef and cheek, marrow crumble, beer onions, caramelised white onion and miso puree or from the sea lemon sole, white beetroot, Monk's beard and seaweed butter. Proceedings conclude in style with a white chocolate and artichoke flan, orange puree and celery or poached rhubarb, saffron custard and jasmine tea sable.
To complement your dining experience, there's a vast wine list knowledgeably garnered from vintners in the best growing regions of the world.
