Review on The Old Bank
The Old Bank is situated in the small village of Snettisham, just five miles south of the seaside resort of Hunstanton and a nine minute drive from Sandringham Estate. It's the kind of neighbourhood restaurant that inspires loyalty with it's friendly and welcoming atmosphere, together with its well executed food. Run by husband and wife team Aga and Lewis King, he mans the stoves while she adeptly manages front of house. In 2019 they were delighted to pick up the prestigious award from the Good Food Guide for the UK's Best Local Restaurant.
As you might expect, Lewis make the most of the abundant larder on his doorstep, witness a starter of Norfolk partridge, pearl barley and Jerusalem artichoke risotto, hazelnuts and pickled walnut among the starters. When it comes to main courses take your pick from dishes such as butter roasted stone bass, red wine risotto, salt baked celeriac, woodland mushrooms cep and truffle velouté or from the land sirloin of beef, bone marrow mash, charred cabbage, yeasted onion purée, slow braised beef rib and wild mushroom ragu. Desserts promise blissful indulgence with either peanut praline, chocolate crémeux and almond brownie or Mum's ginger cake, honey roasted pear and yoghurt.
