Review on Ceremony
Ceremony is set on colourful Fortress Road, known for its independent shops it's located just around the corner from Tufnell Park underground. It's the brainchild of Joe Stokoe who has worked at Milk and Honey and Trailer Happiness, and his American wife Ali Dedianko, a creative director of the London Beer Week. Inside the narrow space has a contemporary décor featuring exposed brick walls and distressed mirrors, with zinc-topped tables and intimate booths towards the rear. A pretty turquoise-tiled bar takes centre stage with eight bar stools available for drinks and snacks.
Ceremony bills itself as a restaurant serving modern British cuisine that just happens to be vegetarian, and its delicious food has hit the headlines with positive reviews from both critics and foodies alike. Amongst the starters you might find charred leek rarebit or French onion soup, croutons and cheese. Main courses pick up on linguine, rocket and cashew pesto and goat's curd or black rice risotto, broad beans and Ribblesdale. The choice of desserts could run to a flourless chocolate cake paired with Chantilly cream or pear crumble with coconut and oats.
To accompany the food there's a concise wine list that focuses on Europe, an excellent selection of craft beers, together with Joe's not-to-be-missed signature cocktails mixed with artistic flair.
