Review on Old Compton Brasserie
Named after the street it resides on, Old Compton Brasserie enjoys a plum position in the heart of Soho, handily placed for pre-theatre dining. Inside the vibrant interiors have been created by award-winning Grapes Design evoking a nostalgic nod to Soho in its swinging era. The open-plan dining room is spacious with exposed brick walls, and colourful bespoke artwork and stained glass. A floating mezzanine area overlooks the restaurant, perfect for private parties and events, and the statement horseshoe bar serves cocktails curated by award winning mixologist The Talented Mr Fox.
Call in for breakfast, enjoy a lazy lunch or book for a special evening out, the kitchen is open all day serving crowd-pleasing dishes. From the dinner menu chicken liver parfait paired with fig puree and toasted sourdough might start the ball rolling before moving on to a main course of sautéed sea bass charred cucumber and spring onions, samphire and caviar. To conclude there are comforting desserts like sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream or maybe blood orange trifle.
Apart from the highly recommended cocktails, the wine list offers plenty of good stuff from around the globe, with some options available by the glass and carafe.
