Review on Machine House Restaurant
Nestling in the Welsh border town of Rossett on the banks of the River Alyn, the Machine House Restaurant has certainly hit the high notes since being taken over by chef patron Kevin Lynn in March 2016. A Michelin listed restaurant, as well as the holder of two AA Rosettes, it was also the prestigious recipient of the AA Restaurant of the Year for Wales 2018-2019.
Located in a converted stone wall barn, once part of Machine House Farm, the name refers to a weighbridge, where carts were weighed. Inside it still retains a rustic charm, with its oak beams, exposed brick and whitewashed walls. A cosy candlelit ambience, with a bar on the ground floor and the main dining room upstairs.
Kevin runs an industrious team where they make all their own breads, butters, ice cream and sorbets, showcasing two tasting menus of either five or eight courses with the option of wine pairing. The menu follows the seasons, products are sourced locally and the kitchen is committed to promoting sustainability, ensuring that all ingredients used are of the finest quality.
