Review on Dip in Brilliant
Dip in Brilliant is a lively arrival on Fulham Road, just steps away from Stamford Bridge Stadium, home to the premier league Chelsea Football Club. The brainchild of celebrity chef Dipna Anand, who co-owns the well regarded Brilliant restaurant in Southall, currently run by her brother and father Gulu, who set up the enterprise in 1975. This is a much more laid-back affair with well-spaced dark wood tables set against orange leather banquette seating.
The menu reflects the rich tapestry of Punjabi cuisine, where diners have the option of popping in for just half an hour for a quick meal served in a round metal platter known as a thali. Among the sharing starters look for tandoori lamb chops flavoured with nutmeg and cardamom, roasted and finished with coriander or Dipna's famous lightly spiced pan fried sea bass fillets from her Dip In Kitchen TV series. Not interested in sharing, then opt for the tandoori chicken with Masala fries or desi fish and chips with mushy matar. When it comes to desserts there's a warm caramelised carrot dessert with pistachio and almond called gajar ka halwa or a warm chocolate brownie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
The dishes are accompanied by a carefully compiled wine list to complement the food, alongside cocktails like Brilliant Wild Passion, an electrifying combination of Brilliant's home-made passion fruit juice with vodka.
