Review on The Flint House

Husband and wife team Ben and Pamela McKellar, who operate the successful Gingerman Restaurant group launched their fifth enterprise in April 2019, named The Flint House it has lost the 'Ginger' moniker of it's siblings. Set in a stunning flint-clad building that it takes its name from, The Flint House is located in the heart of the Harrington Estate development in Brighton, a 1.3 acre site redeveloped by Redevco. Laid out over two floors, it's a light and airy space decorated with lush green plants, and an upstairs cocktail bar and rooftop terrace with an adjacent green living wall, where guests can look out across the Lanes.

The kitchen makes excellent use of the local larder sending out an array of small plates designed for sharing. Amongst the snacks there's ham croquette served with saffron mayonnaise, as well as cider battered oysters. Slow roast lamb belly is paired with green sauce and anchovy and for fish fans there's roast brill, garlic and parsley. Bringing the curtain down are desserts in the shape of their popular chocolate and peanut butter parfait sandwich and peanuts or steamed almond sponge, pear and olive oil ice cream.

To accompany the dishes there's a lovely selection of wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle together with zingy cocktails.
