Review on Dusk
Just three miles outside Brentwood in Essex, Dusk is a large Mediterranean and Asian restaurant with a shisha lounge, spread over two acres of landscaped grounds adjacent to Bentley Golf Club. The smart interiors have been designed by Hackney based Seesaw Studios, with well-spaced crisp linen laid tables set with black leather chairs on a modern wood floor.
Leading the open theatre kitchen is award-winning Executive chef Executive Chef Stephen Gomes, who has devised an eclectic menu, fusing the best of Mediterranean and Asian cuisines showcasing molecular gastronomy with spectacular displays of smoke and dry ice. The menu is split into four chapters, opening with soups, salads and starters before heading to chapter two for main courses and their signature main courses come under the heading of chapter three, with chapter four their side dishes. Freshly made spicy soup with stuffed prawn wontons is a good starting point before opting for their turf and surf, pan cooked prime cuts of lamb and lobster stuffed with fresh herbs and served with twice fried chips, panko spinach and a tobasco bacon jam. The chocolate fantasy consisting of chocolate mousse, chocolate soil, chocomosa, Nutella donut and Jaffa cake ice cream is a fitting finale.
Dusk has a large dry bar showcasing a vast range of non-alcoholic wines procured from Azanti, a Halal beverage company, as well as mococktails like Indian Summer, pomegranate, cinnamon, cardamom, ice, fresh flowers and ginger, otherwise you can BYO. At the weekends the Shisha Lounge plays host to live music from their resident DJs.
