Review on BaoziInn - Romilly Street
Baozilnn has opened a sibling restaurant on Romilly Street in the heart of Soho, just a short walk from Leicester Square tube. The 80-cover restaurant is set in a converted corner townhouse, spread out over three floors, it's divided into five distinct dining spaces. It has a modern but comfortable take on a Mao-style canteen, featuring decorative shutters, Asian lanterns and exposed brick and aubergine walls decorated with colourful themed artwork. Light oak tables and benches with vivid red upholstered leather chairs are laid out on sleek slate floors.
The kitchen sends out reasonably priced authentic Northern Chinese street food and is the first London restaurant to offer all day Cantonese Dim Sum with Sichuan and Hunan influences. Other popular choices include their flaming skewers such as sirloin steak skewer in black pepper or from the sea king prawn skewer in caramelised sauce. Also look out for the jiaozi dumplings that come in a variety of fillings and are served in a hot and sour broth.
There's a concise wine list, Taiwan Shaoxing wine, Shaoxing Rice wine, draught and Asian beers, as well as sake.
