Review on Borough
Borough restaurant located in Leith, formerly known as the Norn has been taken over by it's previous Head Chef Darren Murray and his wife Aleks, whose deft service injects warmth into proceedings. The restaurant has a chic décor decked out in neutral colours with original paintings by internationally acclaimed artist Steven Cox adorning the walls. Banquette seating and wood furnishings are laid out on a modern wood floor, and there's also a viewing window into the pass and kitchen.
The restaurant has a relaxed ambience with Darren showcasing a modern European menu based on locally sourced seasonal ingredients. The carte changes regularly but you might see dishes along the lines of cured Loch Etive sea trout, roast pepper, aubergine and chilli oil or from the land roast organic chicken, celeriac, shallot and elderflower sauce, finishing with delicious Blacketyside raspberries with chocolate ganache and lavender ice cream. On Wednesdays and Thursday they also operate a BYOB with a £5 corkage.
To accompany the food there's a comprehensive wine list from small independent suppliers, as well as Scottish beers and artisan soft drinks.
