Review on Craft Dining Rooms
After a seven figure investment, the Craft Dining Rooms launched in the heart of Birmingham's Theatreland in July 2019, set within the International Convention Centre. Featuring two private dining rooms, a central bar and a contemporary main dining room with 150 covers, it has a chic colour scheme of silver grey with splashes of vibrant mustard. Plush velvet sofas are decorated with colourful cushions and modern artwork adorns the stripped concrete walls, and the light airy room is illuminated by white cluster globe light fittings. Guests can also sit outside on their terrace with its enviable views overlooking the historical canal.
The modern British menu will champion provenance, seasonality and quality with a strong allegiance to the very best of British produce. Among the small plates and snacks there's tempting dishes like steak tartar, slow cooked yolk, Cheddar custard, nasturtiums and puffed rice or beer battered cod, egg, caper, parsley and lemon. When it comes to the main event there's roasted trout, Isle of Wight tomatoes, lemon and wild sea vegetables or from the land 8oz salt aged sirloin served with bone marrow sauce, baby gem and Shropshire Blue salad and triple cooked chips. As a delicious finale enjoy a raspberry and white chocolate gateaux, white chocolate, lemon verbena and raspberry sorbet or Wye Valley strawberry trifle with warm Madeleines and vanilla clotted cream.
To accompany the food the extensive wine list emphasises British producers and there's also signature cocktails like Blackthorn - Fruity, sloe gin, Somerset Brandy, sugar and citrus, alongside a comprehensive craft gin menu.
