Review on Duck & Waffle Local
Duck & Waffle Local occupies a corner position on St James Market, just a short walk from Piccadilly Circus station, it's the casual offshoot of the successful Duck & Waffle, located on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in Aldgate. It's a light and airy venue flooded with light from the full length glass windows. Designed by O1 Creative, the décor takes inspiration from farm-to-table dining with polished concrete floors and timber fittings and a magnificent corrugated metal ceiling.
An all day venue serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, light snacks and dinner using first-class ingredients, the menu is diverse enough to suit all tastes. There's much to enjoy from coal roasted prawns with harissa, avocado and lemon to foie gras crème brulée, brioche bun, marmalade and pork puff. When it comes to large plates there's their signature big quack burger, duck patty, American cheese, sweet pickle sauce in a brioche bun or from the sea roasted fillets of seabream with bulgur wheat and salsa verde. For a sugar rush opt for the caramelised banana waffle with homemade chocolate and hazelnut spread or 'The Full Elvis', buttermilk waffle, PBJ, banana, Chantilly cream and berries.
To accompany the food there's a concise wine list, together with cocktails and beers on tap.
