Review on Decimo
Decimo which means ten in Spanish launched in October 2019, the debut London restaurant from high-profile chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, who has already established two Michelin-starred restaurants, Casamia and Paco Tapas in Bristol. Perched on the 10th floor, it's the signature restaurant of The Standard hotel situated opposite St Pancras station in King's Cross, and can be accessed by a bright red capsule lift on the outside of the building on Euston Road.
Designed by Shawn Hausman in a rich palette of red and brown, the floor to ceiling windows offer panoramic views across London's stunning skyline, including the striking St Pancras Clock Tower. Red Brazilian tiled topped tables are set with stylish banquette seating, while the stunning rattan ceiling is courtesy of the Fong Brothers in Californian and the macramé drapery comes from Peru's Cristina Colichon. A stunning bespoke bar is made from Jatoba wood found in central America and the lights are made by Whichford pottery. A sunken fire pit takes centre stage and the room is appropriate decorated with various greenery and cactus plants.
Peter Sanchez-Iglesias and his long-time lieutenant Josh Green have created a vibrant menu of Spanish and Mexican dishes, emphasising first-class British produce, with many of the dishes cooked over a charcoal grill. The carte offers para picar, seafood served over ice, aguachile a Mexican ceviche, as well as salads including Caesar salad prepared at the table. Among the highlights there's also suckling pig shoulder, XL langoustines and rib of beef.
To accompany the food there's a wine list that focuses on Spain and Latin America, tequila, rare Mezcals, as well as signature cocktails.
