Review on Seabird at The Hoxton
Enjoying a plum position on the 14th floor of the boutique Hoxton Hotel in Southwark, the Seabird was launched in September 2019. Located on the south side of Blackfriars Bridge within walking distance of popular tourist attractions, the hotel has two other UK branches in Shoreditch and Holborn.
The restaurant is operated by the same team behind the renowned Maison Premier in Brooklyn, New York. Take in the views of the Houses of Parliament and the Shard from their stunning terrace with comfy sofas and wicker chairs. The indoor restaurant has a Mediterranean setting with tall potted palms dotted around the room and still offers diners impressive views across London's skyline from the floor to ceiling windows.
Ultra-fresh seafood is the order of the day with a central raw bar offering London's largest selection of oysters. The menu takes inspiration from Portuguese and Spanish influences sending out an array of small plates along the lines of octopus roll, sobrasada aioli and padron peppers or hand-dived scallop with spinach, raisins, pine nuts and tomato, alongside a selection of charcuterie. Other options worth considering is their Basque stew, clams, mussels, red snapper and prawns or from the charcoal grill, there's New Haven whole John Dory. When it comes to desserts think Manchego cheesecake or lemon granita, Chantilly cream and Izarra liquor.
The wine list champions biodynamic wines from some of Europe's finest small scale producers and the cocktail list has been carefully crafted by Maison Premiere's Bar Director William Elliott, with a focus on draught, bottled and frozen cocktails.
