Review on RedFarm
RedFarm is located in the heart of Covent Garden, the brainchild of Ed Schoenfeld who already operates two siblings in New York. The buzzy restaurant has become something of a cult venue due to their instagrammable Pac-Man dumplings like the original 1980's video game. So cute and such fun, they are served in colours of white, blue, yellow and pink with two little black eyes, about to be munched by an open mouthed deep-fried sweet potato croquette.
Spread out over three floors of an old townhouse, it is a replica of the original restaurant in New York. Sporting a cosy, laid back ambience with exposed whitewashed brickwork, pale wooden furnishings, a communal table seating 26 guests, as well as booths with red and white cushions. On the second floor is their bar Toots n Hoots, which takes its name from the two photographic works displayed on the walls by Claire Rosen, depicting a pair of owls. Serving bar snacks and signature cocktails like Yo Match, Panerea Island Gin, Matcha Tea cordial, peach liqueur and lemon juice, curated by well known mixologist Shawn Chen.
The menu showcases the talents of dim sum masterchef Joe Ng, with signature dishes like spicy crispy beef and pastrami egg rolls and pork and crab soup dumplings, served with a straw to sip the broth inside and vegetable spring rolls shaped like a flower. Among the main courses there's grilled Dingley Dell pork chop, basil and lemongrass or from the sea poached turbot, spring onion and frizzled ginger, finishing on a sweet note with custard baos.
