Middleton Lodge is a stunning rambling Georgian country house retreat set on 200 private acres in rural North Yorkshire, near the picturesque village of Middleton Tyas and just two miles from the A1 motorway. At the heart of Middleton Lodge is the award winning Coach House restaurant, with its lofty beamed ceiling, it is both contemporary and rustic, integrating a modern design into the stylish décor.

Holding sway in the kitchen is Gareth Rayner, who worked in esteemed restaurants such as Wynyard Hall in County Durham, House of Tides in Newcastle upon Tyne and Forest Side in Grasmere before taking the reins here. Showcasing a seasonal menu, Gareth makes the most of the produce sourced from the Estate's two-acre walled garden, designed by critically acclaimed landscape designer, Tom Stuart Smith.

The kitchen sends out beautifully displayed dishes in the shape of king scallops, sweetcorn, chorizo, coriander and lime or from the land pan-fried Yorkshire partridge, Estate pear, garden sprout leaves, crispy chokes and game sauce. After that, consider Tunstall Farm pork belly, Estate apples and grilled hispi cabbage or for fish fans there's North Sea cod bouillabaisse, braised fennel, garden herb, tomato and orange dressing and potatoes. Desserts are wickedly indulgent creations like chocolate and hazelnut brownie bar, paired with banana ice cream and salted caramel popcorn.

The wine list has been carefully compiled to complement the dishes, alongside seasonal cocktails and craft ales. Middleton Lodge also operates as a very popular wedding and private events venue, and should you wish to stay over there's a number of charming rooms available throughout the Estate.
