The Sussex Bar & Restaurant is a thoroughbred addition to Frith Street in Soho, housed in the former premises of Anthony Demetre's Arbutus. It's the latest restaurant from the Gladwin brothers, who have already successfully established The Shed in Notting Hill, the Rabbit in Chelsea and Nutbourne in Battersea. A double-fronted venue, the smart interiors have been refurbished with dark oak panelled walls decorated with contemporary artwork and smart blue banquettes set against wooden tables and chairs. Downstairs within the state-of-the-art kitchen, there's also a chef's table seating up to twenty guests offering the ultimate dining experience.

The menu will focus on seasonal and foraged produce sourced from the family farm in Nutbourne, West Sussex showcasing their farm to fork ethos. Kick off with monkfish carpaccio, aubergine, lemon, chilli, toasted pine nuts and red amaranth or maybe chopped raw Sussex beef, bone marrow, quail's egg, cheddar and umami relish. Main courses usher in fallow deer, salsify, smoked garlic, brassicas, button onions and red wine jus or from the sea, roasted red gurnard, Devon crab ravioli, sea shore bisque and samphire. When it comes to desserts you might see The Shed mangum viennetta parfait or otherwise choose from their selection of British cheeses displayed on the counter, served with Sussex honey, redcurrant pastilles and crisp bread.

There's an excellent wine list to accompany the food including award-winning wines from their own Sussex vineyard, or otherwise sit at the bar and enjoy a well-crafted cocktail like Sussex 75, a Sussex sparkling wine and rhubarb-tinted twist on the original aperitif.
