Review on London Stock
The London Stock restaurant opened in January 2020 occupying a 2,333 sq ft unit within Ram's Quarter in the heart of Wandsworth. An exciting residential and retail enterprise, it's part of the redevelopment of the former historic Young's brewery by the Chinese Greenland Group. The restaurant benefits from a dual aspect, facing Ram Quarter's Bubbling Well Square and Wandsworth High Street entrance.
Inside the glass-fronted building, it has a smart contemporary décor with exposed brick walls and a open wood beamed ceiling. An olive green banquette lines the wall, set against pale wood tables and burnt orange upholstered chairs on a rich wood chevron flooring. There's a few counter seats at the glossy tiled bar that serves an eclectic cocktail menu such as Seabuckthorne Bellini and Winter Spiced Daiquiri.
London Stock is the debut restaurant from Le Cordon Bleu-trained Assem Abdel Hady, who has gathered a very strong team with a background of Michelin-starred restaurants such as Umu, Dinner by Heston, Nobu, Pollen Street and the Hind's Head. The kitchen aims to deliver modern British fine dining using innovative Asian techniques for a seasonally changing tasting menu of artistically displayed dishes. Among the culinary delights, you might see crab, focaccia, crab bisque, lemon purée, sourdough tuile or from the land, quail, onion purée and cured beetroot finishing with barley, malt and miso soufflé and Sambrook's Imperial stout ice cream.
To accompany the menu there's a carefully compiled wine list from across the globe including bins from Portugal, Hungary, Germany and California.
