Review on Wild Tavern
Occupying a corner spot on Elystan Street, just off Chelsea Common, the Wild Tavern is an Italian Mediterranean restaurant from George Bukhov-Weinstein and Ily Demichev, the founders of the Burger and Lobster group. The interiors have been designed by renowned architects Archer Humphryes with an open kitchen, a feature central fireplace and a smart split wood ceiling. Cosy alcoves with banquette seating line the walls and there's counter seating at the marble-topped bar.
In the kitchen is Head Chef Marco Peri, who previously held the position of senior sous chef at Corbin & King's Colbert in Chelsea, and consulting on the menu is Sardinian chef Achille Panna, who currently runs seafood restaurant Da Achille in Sant'Antioco. The menu takes inspiration from the coastal areas of Italy, Spain and France with many dishes cooked on the authentic charcoal grill. Kick start proceedings with a selection of seafood from the raw bar, or opt for a starter in the shape of Josper grilled langoustines. Main courses pick up on pasta dishes like home made tortello with ox tail or linguine with whole 800g Canadian lobster for two people, and for meat lovers there's a succulent rack of British lamb. To finish on a sweet note enjoy a white chocolate mille-feuille or maybe Napoleon cake with rum and raisin.
The wine list roams the globe but mainly focuses on Europe and there's plenty of options by the glass using the Coravin system, alongside a seasonal cocktail menu.
