Review on Kildrummy Inn
Standing alongside the A97 Donside road, this historic inn was built as part of the adjoining Kildrummy Estate, deep in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire. It is now a popular stopping-off point with useful accommodation, a three-acre paddock licensed for caravans, and use of the adjoining Volunteers Hall for weddings and other special events.
The kitchen makes good use of Scottish produce for wide-ranging menus backed up by seasonal specials. Typical dishes might include deep-fried haggis with honey, whisky and mustard dressing, poached fillet of salmon with tarragon, lime and white wine sauce, and braised lamb shank on garlic and herb mash. To finish, think white chocolate and rum torte or strawberry and Champagne roulade.
The inn has a decent wine list and now stocks Scottish real ales. One Mobile Food Guide user also appreciated the fine selection of malt whiskies and 'staff who will take the time to make you feel at home.'
