Review on Zeffirellis
The film director’s name gives a clue as to the main business here. It’s a highly useful complex centred around a four-screen cinema in the centre of Ambleside, with a restaurant and café/bar attached.
During the day there’s café food but, in the evening, the place transforms itself into a 170-seater restaurant. If you fancy something more filling than popcorn, you can choose from the range of home-baked,10-inch wholemeal pizzas, including The Rain Forest (topped with Zeff sauce, spinach, peppers, jalapeño peppers, red onions, Cheddar and Mozzarella).
Everything here is vegetarian, from starters like grilled polenta with tapenade or goats’ cheese and chive soufflé to salads and pasta dishes such spinach and Ricotta ravioli or tagliatelle Portofino (with leek, mushroom and Dolcelatte sauce). Finish with soft frozen yoghurts, locally produced ices or a groovy sundae.
Check out the special fixed-price deals that include a two-course meal and a cinema ticket included.
