Review on The Kings Arms Restaurant
The historic market town of Amersham is home to The Kings Arms restaurant, set in an attractive black and white timber and plaster Tudor building steeped in history, Oliver Cromwell once stayed here and it also featured in the film, Four Weddings and a Funeral. The restaurant is in the oldest part of the hotel with twisted wooden beams, lattice windows and a lovely open brick fireplace. Smart contemporary leather chairs are set against simply laid wooden tables on modern wood flooring.
The kitchen offers a modern British menu employing keenly sourced local and regional ingredients. Kick off with chicken liver parfait, ham hock croquette served with their own orchard apple chutney, followed by a main course of braised ox cheek, Boulangere potatoes, artichoke fritters and fresh horseradish cream or maybe pan fried lemon sole, prawns and lemon butter sauce and chive new season potatoes. When it comes to desserts there's warm chocolate brownie, light white chocolate sauce and dark chocolate ice cream or apple tart with Amaretto ice cream, calvados raisins. A fine wine list from all the major wine growing regions is available to complement the menu, together with an impressive stock of smooth cask ales.
There are stylish bedrooms available should you wish to extend your stay and enjoy the many attractions the area has to offer.
