Review on The Five Bells at Brabourne
Brabourne's old boozer The Five Bells has been serving this tiny village since it was originally converted from being the Brabourne parish poorhouse but now, following a stunning refurbishment, new owners are packing in a decidedly more affluent set soaking up the pub / restaurant's warm ambience and celebrating a new era of The Five Bells at Brabourne. Log fires and oak beams aplenty, the decor must be seen to be believed and it all works together with amazing attention to detail as to create a remarkable atmosphere while hitting the market spot on.
The kitchen deals in everything local and centres around a wood burning oven. Every supplier, bread, meat, fish all receive due credit while the wine list scours the county for the finest that The Garden of England has to offer. A daily specials menu sporting perhaps Hythe Bay cod with hand cut chips supports a short menu with maybe fish pie, rib eye steak or pizza from the wood burner. A selection of real ales changes regularly and you can even go home with a jar of home-made pickled onions from the shop section, which all adds to the charm of the place.
