Review on Duchally Country Estate
Set in 27 acres of parkland amid some of Perthshire’s most spectacular scenery, Duchally Country Estate is also conveniently located just a mile from the A9 and 15 minutes’ drive from Perth itself.
The elegant wood-panelled lounge bar is a cosy spot for a drink and a chat, but the real attraction is the restaurant. Three-course lunches offer a choice of bistro-style dishes, but the main event is dinner when the kitchen shows what it can do with carefully sourced local produce.
To start, there might be a tian of hot-smoked salmon on avocado salsa with dill dressing or homemade game terrine with plum chutney and toasted brioche. Moving on, expect char-grilled fillet of Auchterarder beef served with a chive potato cake, roast loin of venison with parsnip purée and redcurrant jus, and fillet of sea bass with a risotto of scallops and herb oil. Rounding off proceedings are desserts ranging from steamed ginger pudding with butterscotch sauce to iced lemon meringue parfait.
