Review on The Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant

A dyed-in-the-wool, touristy Welsh hotel with the mountains of Snowdonia on its doorstep isn’t the kind of place where you expect to find aromatic crispy duck or sizzling Szechuan king prawns on the menu. But that’s exactly what you get at The Garden Hotel.

Ornamental dragon’s heads, decorative fans, screens and luxuriant plants add a touch of exoticism to the simply decorated dining room, and the menu is a long trawl through the accessible side of Chinese cuisine. There are no sea cucumbers, pickled chicken’s feet or crispy fried intestines here: instead the menu offers reassurance in the shape of sesame prawn toasts, stir-fried beef with oyster sauce, barbecued roast pork and egg fried rice.

    Will stay again!!

    Myself and my friends were very pleased we stayed and ate here, the rooms are clean and and restaurant was amazing, not had Cantonese food this good before! Very impressed!
