Review on The Bridge
The Bridge is in a handy position close to Hammersmith Bridge, hence the name, this hostelry has made the leap from local boozer to voguish gastro pub thanks to a serious refit in 2002. Inside, it consists of a series of high-ceilinged rooms with lots of polished wood, red banquettes and leather sofas for comfort; there's a large decking area in the garden, and the restaurant has its own entrance.
One menu is served throughout the place, and culinary influences come from the Mediterranean and beyond. This means an array of dishes that might include chick pea and cumin cakes with melted goats' cheese and coriander salsa, Thai beef salad, roast saddle of rabbit wrapped in pancetta with mash, and slow-roast belly pork served over a sausage and haricot bean cassoulet.
Fish dishes vary from day to day and desserts could range from Mascarpone cheesecake with Cointreau-soaked oranges to warm chocolate brownie. The 40-bin wine list is a creditable selection, with ten by the glass. Early-evening deals (5.30-6.30pm) and weekend brunch are worth noting.
