Review on The Marlborough Tavern
The Marlborough Tavern is situated near the Royal Crescent and Royal Victoria Park in the spa City of Bath. This spacious modern pub with its lovely walled courtyard garden was awarded the British Food Pub of the Year 2010 at the Publican Food and Drink Awards. Their aim is to provide restaurant quality food whilst retaining the ambience of a local pub.
Leading the kitchen is Executive chef Dan Edwards, who is passionate when it comes to sourcing the finest ingredients for his dishes and works with local suppliers to ensure that the restaurant's produce is unrivalled in quality and freshness. Amongst the starters you might choose roast breast of pigeon with beetroot puree, berry and balsamic syrup and toasted hazelnut salad or seared Cornish smoked salmon dressed with liquorice served with herb puree and beetroot salad. Follow on with poached breast of free range Creedy Carver Farm chicken served with truffled leeks, ceps, pont neuf potatoes and a herb reduction or Butcombe beer battered haddock with mushy peas, caper mayonnaise and hand cut chips. Sticky toffee pudding with homemade banana ice cream is a favourite dessert or maybe you would prefer the selection of fine West Country cheeses, supplied by The Fine Cheese Company from their huge range of local artisan cheeses. Wines are fairly priced and very quaffable, together with a friendly service, The Marlborough Tavern is proving to be a very popular destination.
