Review on La Rascasse
Bare brickwork and timbers help to create a warm Continental atmosphere at La Rascasse, a very popular local restaurant and bar, and the food has echoes of a Parisian brasserie.
French influences come through strongly in dishes such as cod brandade, moules marinière and peppered lamb fillet with fondant potatoes, mint and caper sauce. Elsewhere, the kitchen spreads its wings for wok-fried chicken salad with caramel sauce, fillet of red mullet with lemon grass, chilli, garlic and ginger, and leek and Parmesan risotto with poached egg and truffle oil.
Seafood platters are a big attraction and it’s also worth looking out for loin of ostrich served with bitter chocolate sauce, roasted Jersey Royals and creamed Savoy cabbage.
