Review on The WineGlass Restaurant at the Barns Hotel
Built in the early years of the eighteenth century on the site of a medieval tithe barn, this Bedfordshire manor house was - for many years - the country seat of the Whitbread family (of brewing fame). These days, it's a popular hotel which makes the most of a tranquil setting in three acres of landscaped grounds on the banks of the River Ouse.
The WineGlass Restaurant (formerly the Riverside) has delightful views over the water and offers an excellent modern British menu backed by a creditable wine list. Simpler food is also available in the contemporary Riverside Bar and you can enjoy afternoon tea by the river with an assortment of cakes, pastries alongside a wide range of speciality teas or coffee.
