Review on The White Swan
Affectionately known as the Dirty Duck, this cosmopolitan hostelry in Birmingham’s leafy stockbroker belt has been given a serious wash and brush-up, thanks to a new team of gastro pub entrepreneurs. The interior has been transformed and it now feels distinctly urbane and gentrified.
An up-to-the-minute menu deals in ‘sharing plates’, ‘little dishes’, ‘leaves’, pizzas and pasta, plus bigger items from the ‘stove/grill/rôtisserie’. Typically, you might notice onion tart with Cashel Blue and rocket, crispy duck salad with watercress, mooli, spring onion and plum sauce, and rump of lamb with chorizo mash, peas, onion and mint jelly. The wine list bristles with Champagnes and a broad selection of keenly priced stuff from around the globe.
