Review on Blakeney White Horse
Blakeney is a Mecca for bird-watchers, sailing types and lovers of Norfolk’s coastal landscapes, and the venerable White Horse " just up the hill from the quay " is one of its focal points. Built of brick and flint it now plays its part as pub, restaurant and hotel. Given the location, it’s not surprising that local fish plays a big role when it comes to food.
The menu offers things like pork rillettes with spiced chutney and toast and more ambitious offerings such as ballontine of guinea fowl stuffed with their own black pudding, parsnip puree, herb gnocchi and cavelo nero. Reliable supply lines also ensure there is plenty of meat and game from local estates. As a finale, try cinnamon pannacotta, roast plum coulis and cardamon ice cream or pumpkin tart with clotted cream
Customers in the bar and conservatory can now eat from the same menu, although there's less in the way of restaurant trappings. Real ales and keenly priced wines are from Adnams of Southwold.
