Review on The Foragers Pub
The Foragers Pub hidden in a residential side street in Hove was opened in 2006 by co-owners Rebecca Misich and Paul Hutchison, ex Groucho Club Manager. Although very much a local watering hole, it has also become extremely well known for the excellent carefully sourced food produced by the kitchen, and as such has become a very popular destination.
Seasonal wild foraged greens, herbs and spices are gathered locally and from their own backyard, vegetables are grown and picked in Sussex and Kent, organic and free range meat is produced by Clayton Farm, Hen on the Gate in East Sussex and seafood is caught daily by a family-run business on the Sussex coast, using only sustainable fishing methods. Typically you might begin with roasted pigeon breast, parsnip puree, roast pumpkin, jus or smoked mackerel, celeriac remoulade, caper berries with granary toast. While mains take in wild rabbit hot pot, truffled mash, pearl barley, kale or pan fried fish of the day, pink fir potatoes, fennel and caper butter. To round things off order a dessert of toffee and walnut tart and vanilla ice cream or lemon posset, whipped cream and brandy snap. The Foragers serves some of the best, local, organic, biodynamic, new world and classical wines, as well as an excellent selection of spirits. There is a lovely bright and colourful beer garden for summer months and the pub also features live music and comedy nights.
