Review on Maison Bleue
Maison Blue, a consistently award winning restaurant including one of the top ten fine dining restaurants in the UK on Tripadvisor, can be found in the backstreets of the attractive medieval market town of Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk. Walk through the door and you will discover an elegant restaurant with a modern décor that exudes a sophisticated yet relaxing atmosphere. Cool interiors set the mood, with tables laid with crisp napery and flickering candles adding to its glow in the evenings.
Seafood cookery is the business of the day and the quality is first-class, but carnivores are not forgotten either with dishes such as roasted Dingley Dell pork belly, chorizo purée, aged Parmigiano amongst the starters or a main course of pan-fried fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef, reared in Norfolk, veal reduction and poached garlic. Fish lovers can kick off with Scottish marinated langoustine tails, Roscoff artichoke, anchovy mayonnaise, green olive and baby courgette, followed by a main course of wild fillet of turbot, cucumber, wasabi and green tomato sauce and glazed spring onion. Desserts are beautifully executed creations offering an enticing mix of flavours, witness crunchy base dark chocolate ganache paired with beetroot ice cream or puff pastry, passion fruit espuma, mango, papaya, ginger and mild chill with dark bitter chocolate ice cream.
There is an impressive wine list that champions wine from France, but all the other major global wine growing regions are well represented, providing an array of different notes and bodies to suite any preference. Service provided by the front of house team is notably polished and attentive.
