Review on Arundel House Hotel
A prime site overlooking the River Cam is the setting for this privately owned hotel, which is just a few minutes walk from Cambridge city centre and its renowned colleges.
The airy, contemporary restaurant is divided up into three distinct areas, with bright refreshing colour schemes, oak dressers arrayed with curios and abundant greenery. Menus are tailored to suit all-comers, with international dishes such as seafood bisque, char-grilled fillet steak with brandy and black peppercorn sauce or roast fillets of sea bass with ribbon vegetables and roasted cherry tomatoes, followed by plum tarte Tatin and pannacotta with raspberries.
Adjacent to the bar is the hotel's magnificent Victorian Conservatory Brasserie, a splendid room dominated by a massive 'ficus benjamina' tree and countless plants. It offers casual food right through the day (9.30am - 10.00pm) in a setting of rattan armchairs, granite-topped tables and tropical blinds.
