Review on Hotel du Vin & Bistro
Hotel du Vin & Bistro Cambridge, part of an award winning group is housed in a former University owned building dating back in part to medieval times, located in the heart of the city centre, a short stroll from the Fitzwilliam Museum. The interior in line with other HDV hotels has been transformed into an elegant contemporary venue, whilst respecting the many quirky architectural features of the unique building.
The open kitchen showcases typical French bistro fare with an emphasis on fresh first-class locally sourced ingredients. Starters such as a classic French onion soup or chicken liver parfait served with toasted brioche and raisin chutney give way to main courses of moules frites, mussels in white wine, finished with butter and parsley, or from the grill choose one of their steaks, dry aged on the bone for a minimum of 28 days and served with frites and your choice of sauce. Traditional desserts close the show with rhubarb crumble and custard or maybe apple tarte tatin served with crème Normande.
There is an excellent wine list to accompany the menu with the head sommelier on hand to guide you through the selections.
