Review on Squires Restaurant, Bridgewood Manor
Bridgewood Manor is situated close to the ancient Pilgrims Way on the outskirts of Rochester, this modern, purpose-built hotel has some intriguing features including a classical courtyard at the centre of things, a fine stone fireplace and lots of beautiful reclaimed carved wood from nearby churches and fine houses.
Squires Restaurant is the setting for formal dining in the hotel, and the menu has strong European overtones. A typical meal might kick off with home-cured gravlax with a herb omelette or sautéed chicken livers with raspberry vinegar infusion, before fillets of John Dory with basil-scented noodles, oyster mushrooms and lobster jus or marinated lamb shank braised with red wine and honey. As a finale, you might go for rhubarb trifle with toasted almonds or lime and lavender parfait.
Alternatively try the Terrace bistro, which serves sandwiches, teas, snacks and light meals (burgers, Kent sausages and mash, Greek salad et. al) right through the day.
