Review on Mussel Inn
As its name suggests, this bustling, bistro-style venue is devoted to the joys of mouthwatering molluscs (and more besides). It's a pulsating venue right in the heart of Glasgow city centre, and it pulls in the crowds. There are no fancy frills here, just honest natural food served with style and fizz.
Kilo pots of mussels every-which-way are the stars, and there are 'kiddie pots' for the youngsters: all that is needed is some crusty bread for dipping. Elsewhere, the kitchen is fond of oysters and scallops (try these char-grilled with garlic butter or seared and served with Parmesan mash, sun-blush tomato and basil oil); there are excellent grilled platters, too.
Kick off with a bowl of seafood chowder or deep-fried goats' cheese, and finish with coconut cheesecake or chocolate brownie. The wine list is tilted towards fish-friendly whites, with plenty of options by the glass. There's a branch at 61-65 Rose Street, Edinburgh.
