Review on The Clanfield Tavern
Nestling in the idyllic Oxfordshire village of Clanfield and dating back to the 17th century, The Clanfield Tavern unashamedly flies the ancient and modern flag. Low original oak beams, flagstone floors and roaring fires contrast with the adjoining conservatory and its more contemporary style with reclaimed oak floors, ethically sourced teak furniture and a striking wine wall.
Food is a serious issue here and local produce is what it's all about. Supplies from nearby farms are topped up from the Tavern's own vegetable and herb garden. Take a look at the ‘what’s coming from the garden’ board when you dine there during the summer and expect anything from home made classics such as steak and kidney pudding or fish and chips to a roast leg of Gloucester Old Spot for Sunday lunch.
A well thought out wine list kicks off with some great value house wines.
