Review on The New Inn
With its ivy-clad exterior The New Inn at Coln St Aldwyns breathes with traditional countryside character. It has gained an enviable reputation as an excellent inn with long string of accolades. The critically-acclaimed restaurant itself is the recipient of 2 AA Rosettes for its outstanding cuisine. It is a cosy restaurant, particularly in the winter months when the warm intimate ambience is a welcome haven from the elements outside.
Here, seasonal modern British cuisine is the order of the day and is executed with panache. Perhaps you might start with breast of duck with garlic braised cabbage and balsamic jus, or maybe sea scallops with guacamole and a beetroot dressing with herb oil. Then, why not move on to beef fillet with dauphinoise potato, served with braised cabbage, carrots and pegourdine sauce. Dessert lovers will be pleased with a selection that might include lemon tart with iced lime parfait, or cherry crème brulee, as well as a selection of farmhouse cheeses. The wine list is comprehensive and well balanced.
