Review on La Lampada
The La Lampada in the heart of Dusseldorf's city centre unites two charming and cosy eateries under one roof. The bistro part is particularly popular at lunchtime. It becomes a meeting point for a cheerful, multicultural assortment of people from all walks of life: the arty scene, freelancers and office workers. The bistro offers a tempting selection of fine Italian wines from a wine shelf stacked with bottles right up to ceiling. Guests can of course also enjoy good wines by the glass. In the summer, weather permitting, the large glass doors are opened and guests can enjoy the specialities of the house outdoors. The top floor of the restaurant houses stylishly decorated rooms that are also frequently used for functions. The cooking is simple and straightforward (e.g. carpaccio of swordfish, pan-fried monkfish and catfish with herbs), sometimes with strong and intense flavours (e.g. taglierini with truffel cream, calf's liver with sage). Staff are happy to make recommendations and explain dishes, and individual dishes can be changed to accommodate guests' wishes; it is a well-known fact that excellent and friendly service enhances the guests' enjoyment and makes the food taste even better. The excellent fish dishes are particularly good. And don't miss the seasonal specialities!
