Review on The Parrot Inn

Charles and Linda Gotto made their names in several London pubs before moving to The Parrot Inn at Forest Green in the Surrey Hills and pursuing their passion for home-grown and local food. They have a farm a couple of miles from the Parrot, where they raise livestock and poultry, and much of their produce - plus a range of homemade sausages, pies, breads, preserves and other provisions - is available in the pub's 'farm shop'.

The pub itself is a classic country good-looker, with no fewer than four garden areas, and an interior that is all low-beamed ceilings, flagstone floors and a bar dispensing real ales straight from the barrel. On the other side is the restaurant - an eclectic space that's 'sort of churchie, sort of modern, sort of regular', according to Charles.

As you might expect, the food is wholesome, home-produced stuff, mixing traditional and contemporary ideas in dishes such as pork, hare and juniper terrine, slow-braised Shorthorn beef (home-reared) with Guinness, sauté potatoes and purple sprouting broccoli or roast pork belly with mash and braised cabbage.

VERY dirty food and dated decor

Found this place through our walks but would definitely not recommend coming here! The food was very over priced and VERY dirty, the salad was unwashed, still with soil! I had to send my food back to the kitchen, the waitress came back with 'the chef said she cleaned it but must have missed this one' ?! I wonder what else did she missed?! Very worrying indeed...the Landlady/Manager never bother to come over to our table and apologise so really disappointing. Really slow and bad customer service!
